Goorgo: "This year we had to take a step forward"

The co-founder of Team Heretics, Jorge “Goorgo” Orejudo, told usó about the current situation of the club, the future of the competitive Call of Duty, a review of the brilliant season of Miami Heretics and the role of FECOD on the scene española in an exclusive interview.

After the recent revelationón of the próximo Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, ‘Goorgo’ is confident. However, it concludes that it is necessary to return to NEWS_PH_30__nical mechanics that make the competitive scene much more attractive, tátactics and analysisíethics:

“Úlately the COD is gettingá boring because there are only two weapons. Enough is enough, it can't just be short and long. Giving snipers G/A seems like a shame to meüenza. I miss a ráfagas weapon, a long semi-automaticática…”.

Jorge Orejudo places special emphasisé on the difficulty of returning to the competitive scene after the impossibility of doing so until 2023 in MWIII. As is already well known, it was attemptedó for four yearsños until it became a reality with the cooperationón of Misfits:

“We were left out when it startedáwe were going to compete from tú to tú. I was more excited to come back for the fans and MethodZ than for the club. We don't make money with COD, we do it because we want and need to be in Call of Duty. It's a sentimental thing”.

Both the COD Champs and the EWC were the highest points of the año and, despite the great level that Miami Heretics had in both tournaments, the general feelingón of the fans was sadness at the lost opportunity that they were givenó and that, due to smallñthe details, it did not endóas expected wanted:

“At the beginning of the yearño we had a conversationón with the kids and we told them that this yearño They shouldían take a step forward, we neededáto have good results. The world cup does notwe couldíhave won, and at the EWC, by a second at Hardpoint, we didn't beat OpTic 3-0”.

A ‘Goorgo’ did not missó his little oneñmentionedón the already retired Alejandro “Lucky” López, his replacementón mid-season by Diego “SupeR” Escudero and the great work he has contributed to the club since its inception in 2016:

“It's been around for many yearsños. He is the best player in the history of Spainña. That now suddenly you have Renkor, rookie of the year, who has had a higher peak than Lucky, and SupeR… Lucky is a great player, but you look back at SupeR and say: this tío you have to go out and play”.

It is difficult for Miami Heretics to repeat a yearño like this, since the level has been very highíand the roster that finishedó the season has not been maintained. However, Jorge Orejudo is optimistic and anticipates the next moves that the franchise will make for the next season: NEWS_PH_164__

“Our goal was to maintain the block of four. It has not been possible with ReeaL, así there are three left. Two of them have contracts and we are working on renewals. With MettalZ we are working on keeping him because he is a fundamental type of player. Now we need to bring in a player, but there is not much progress aún. We would likeíto continue speaking Spanishñol because it makes sense to us, aún. If we do what we want to do, we can aspire to have the same level as last year and take the next step, which is to have the level at the end of the season throughout the year.

With the appearanceón of KOI in the name of the Toronto Ultra franchise, Spainñwill beá moreás present than ever in the CDL, and knowing the background of the now Spanish-Canadians, constantly being in that TOP 3, the support of KOI will beá the spark that startá a new derby within the league:

“I believethat is going to make the Spanish scene growñola a lot. The KOI brand is followed by many people and having Ibai co-streaming a COD match would be incredible. Now that KOI has ReeaL helpá get new people in. In the end, what we want is for the COD to grow, and for new people to be positive for everyone”.

For úlastly, there was no lackóa mentionón to FECOD and its positive view of this new stage of Call of Duty in Spainña and the potential it has to help the competitive national:

“Everything that is generated is súper positive. I think Call of Duty has something that moves a lot of passionón. It's a very nice thing that other games don't have. That FECOD exists in Spain, that you are doing things, initiatives, is going to help. That there would be a Major every year in Madrid hosted by us, to be able to get a team in Challengers, to have the entire place… To have, from our áangle, more power, to generate more national tournaments or leagues and that the kids with 15 añsee them as a viable option to be a Call of Duty player”.
