Talking about Alejandro “Lucky” López is talking about the Spanish CoDñol. His emergence on the professional scene took place at the end of 2014 in Advanced Warfare. At the age of 15ños, and together with the wSystem team (aLeex, IvaaN and Pabloskis), he achievedó the promotion to the highestácategoryía of the Spanish CoDñol: the Divisionón of Honor of the LVP.
His outstanding performanceño in the first sprint of Season 8 caughtó the attentionón of Pain Gaming, who he incorporated into the roster for the Final Cup. Despite the Top8 that they ended up achieving in the in-person Finals, Lucky will demonstrateíhis first credentials of líright.
Already in Black Ops 3, and after achieving a Top4 in the Final Cup 9, Lucky and Pabloskis joinedían in December 2015 with JurNii and Oney to start an unprecedented project: Giants Thunderkids. While the first Giants team was fighting internationally in the CWL, the “kids” were tasked with representing on the local scene. They swept LVP Season 10, winning both sprints and the Final Cup, and achieved two runners-up finishes in SocialNAT sólo behind the Giants first team.
In July 2016, Giants closes its academy, arguing that the current situation impededíthe coexistence of two Giants teams in the Honor Division. However, his new home will soon arrive: Goorgo founds Team Heretics and announces Lucky and companyñía as the organization's first teamón. Heretics symbolically inherits Pain's spot in the ClásiCoD against Giants. The giants fell early in the Infinite Warfare Final Cup 11, paving the way for Heretics to achieve an unprecedented two-time championship in LVP. The heretics also ledén the regular phase of a renewed Orange Super League, but could not reflect their good moment in the in-person Finals.
The World War II season markedíthe age of majorityía for Lucky and several players of his generationón, hungry to represent internationally, and Heretics actedóaccordingly: they signed MethodZ in August 2017 from Giants, in what was the transfer most expensive of Spanish esports at the time, and together with Pabloskis and envdiaN they undertook the assault on CWL.
After two Opens below expectations (Top28 in Dallas and Top80 in New Orleans), Pabloskis and envdiaN left the team, and Sukry and JurNii entered. Both changes were the beginning of a éhistoric era in the Spanish CoDñol: they qualified for the Championship Bracket of the following four Opens (Atlanta, Birmingham, Seattle and Anaheim), two of them from thegroups, and closed with the classificationón to the Champs, Lucky's first, where they achieved a Top24. They were justóonly the foundations of what was to come.
With the implementationón of 5v5 in Black Ops 4, Heretics addedó to their ranks to MettalZ, and revived a flame that had not burnedía since the Giants of BO3: they qualified for the 2019 Pro League in an agóunique úlast LCQ group match against G2. The international contact meantó a leap in quality for Lucky and his people. Top8 in the Fort Worth and Anaheim events, a historic Top6 in London, and Top10 in the Pro League Playoffs. Lucky integrateó the CWL All Star, with the ten best players in the league. They closed the season with a Top16 at the Champs, equaling the best performanceño of a Spanish rosterñol in this event (Pain in 2013 and Gamers2 in 2015).
All this momentum stops suddenly. In 2019, the birth of the CDL, the CoD franchise league, was announced. Despite countless efforts, Heretics fails to secure one of the twelve franchises, and the Spanish sceneñola falls into a void. Lucky joins the ranks of Toronto Ultra but does not step into the starting lineup. 2020 is practicallyápractically a lost season. The departure of Lucky and MettalZ from Ultra, and JurNii from FaZe, is the perfect opportunity for the reunionón of the Spanish projectñol in Black Ops Cold War (2021). Together with envdiaN and later YaKo, and representing RAMS and Team WaR, núcleo competes in the European Challengers, winning 4 Cups, an Elite stage and a Top8 in the regional Finals. The núcleo persists for Vanguard (2022) and incorporates ReeaL, año in which they achieve 6 Cups and an Elite stage representing the Minnesota academy RØKKR. Looking at the end of the season, Sukry enters for JurNii and they are on the verge of qualifying for the Challengers Global Finals.
The Modern Warfare II season (2023) represents a paradigm shift. Although Lucky and JurNii, along with SupeR and YaKo, restarted the project of a Spanish rosterñol, the results in the Pro-Am were not enough. It was time to try an international roster: with British playersánique, and with the support of Elevate and Deviance, Lucky addedó a third Elite stage to his recordés.
The dreamñof establishing a Spanish teamñol in CoD's most important leagueía fadedía with each passing season. UntilóModern Warfare III arrived. Heretics reaches an agreement with Misfits to operate the Florida Mutineers franchise, renaming it as Miami Heretics and redesigning it under a Spanish-speaking brand, reuniting the 2019 roster led by Lucky. The restás is history.
Lucky was the leader and the flagship player of an inevitable generational change. I builtó on the foundations of TojoR, MethodZ, Lgend, and tookó to the Spanish CoDñol to unexplored limits: to fight from tú to tú with the best in the world. And it is little due to the meaning of his name, to luck, but rather to work, discipline and passion. At FECOD we celebrate the exceptional 10-yearños career of an exceptional player, and we wish him the greatest of ésuccesses in his new stage.
